ROOT CANAL THERAPY

Root canal therapy is a dental procedure performed to treat infection or damage within the pulp of a tooth. The pulp is the innermost part of the tooth, containing nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or trauma, it can cause severe pain and may lead to an abscess if left untreated.

During a root canal procedure, the dentist or endodontist (a dentist specializing in root canal treatments) removes the infected or damaged pulp, cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, and then fills and seals the space. This process helps to alleviate pain, save the tooth, and prevent further infection or damage. After a root canal, a dental crown is often placed on the tooth to protect it and restore its strength and function.

While root canals have a reputation for being painful, advancements in dental techniques and anesthesia have made the procedure much more comfortable for patients. Many people report feeling relief from the pain they experienced before the root canal once the infected tissue is removed.
